Moses arrival at the Red Sea is one of the first times we see 'stand' mentioned in the scriptures. Being chased by the Egyptians there must have been many actions going through his mind, but he listened to the voice of the Lord and assured the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Lord will fight for you; you need only be still" Exodus 14:13-14

Moses stood still and listened to God. He was told to do nothing, simply to hold out his arm, and God would do everything. When he held out his arm over the Red Sea, God supernaturally blew across the sea, it parted and he led the children of Israel out of Egypt. God is calling us today to understand what it means to stand as Watchmen.

In Ephesians 6:11-14 standing is spoken of four times, Put on the full armour of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes...stand your ground...after you have done everything, to stand...stand firm. We need to learn to stand in these last days, the warfare is getting more intense. We need to know how to stand because increasingly there will be times when all we will be able to do is stand.

We cannot stand on our emotions, feelings or circumstances, we can only syand on the promises of God, the Word of God. We need to be with Jesus watching and praying for His breakthrough in these last days.

Ezekiel was called as a Watchman by God, God said that if He could find just one man who would stand in the gap, He would intervene. This lone man, Ezekiel, stood in the gap, he responded to the call of God and God intervened because Ezekiel put aside His earthly desires, surrendered all. Ezekiel responded, he was just one man. Multitudes of people are not necessary to come together for God to intervene.... "Again I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by My Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in My name I am there with them.." Matthew 18:19-20 Jesus is our chief Watchman and chief intercessor. He shed His precious Blood, ascended to heaven, and is ever living to make intersession for us. He made intersession by His death, burial and resurrection, so that He could stand in Heaven for the last two thousand years interceding for the believers, for the salvation of nations and for the salvation of His own people. Intersession is vital to being a Watchman, because Jesus the Intercessor, ever living to make intercession, dwells within us.

If we want to walk as Jesus walked, and follow His example, intercession should be our prime ministry.

Are you prepared to sacrifice?

Are you prepared to stand in the gap?

Is Jesus calling you?

We should pray as Nehemiah did ..... "now strengthen our hands" Nehemiah shows us spiritually how to re-build our own walls and gates. 'Church' as we know it now is being called to change and Nehemiah also guides us regarding the change. Re-building these walls have a cost, Nehemiah had a burden, and he had to leave his comfort zone, we have to step out onto the water with the Lord, leave our comfortable place and recognise, with God’s help, that our walls are faulty and need repair. Nehemiah had a sad countenance – the King noticed and God used the King to miraculously step in and place Nehemiah in a position where he could first walk round the wall and assess, and also claim the ground, but then to motivate and hand over to others for their part in the re-building. At each stage Nehemiah prayed… even before he allowed words to leave his mouth when the King questioned him Nehemiah prayed. This is the key.

God miraculously places us and gives us opportunity, it’s up to us to make the choice, to desire and acknowledge even above our own desires that the walls must be re-built. The Lord gives us a 'word' and the Holy Spirit leads us – as individuals for our own walls and then as part of the body for the church wall. We cannot in the physical sense or do any of this ourselves – only with total trust and the moment by moment  leading of the Holy Spirit, with prayer, speaking out God’s Word and the uttering of tongues, the language of the Holy Spirit spoken through us, can these walls and the gates be established. Then, and only then, will the Glory fall, in a way never experienced before. This will also be 'new'.

Leaders need to place themselves with the trumpeters, because when they give the trumpet call of God everyone hears and all of God's people will rally to the sound, lined up as one, behind God, and the leaders. We must be alert and ready, fully clothed in the armour of God, never putting down God’s Word….swords ready in our hands. Never see the task as too much or too great, we must work with all our heart using God’s Word to post a guard over our thoughts, words and actions.

We must beware of infighting, negativity, grumbling, seeing ourselves as powerless. This shows lack of faith in the power of God, and also where there might be some brothers and sisters seeking to elevate themselves  we must remember, all are one, all are equal, we are all servants of the most high and should meekly and humbly serve each other out of love.

As Nehemiah shook his robe, so must we, shaking out anything that would hinder, the Lord will shake out the people. Nehemiah backed up his prayer with courage, personal commitment, he went to do the job. We must begin with prayer, praising to God for His goodness and power, confessing, repenting and only then requesting.

Nehemiah 1:5-11 Then I said: "O LORD, God of heaven, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him and obey his commands, let your ear be attentive and your eyes open to hear the prayer your servant is praying before you day and night for your servants, the people of Israel. I confess the sins we Israelites, including myself and my father's house, have committed against you. We have acted very wickedly towards you. We have not obeyed the commands, decrees and laws you gave your servant Moses. "Remember the instruction you gave your servant Moses, saying, 'If you are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the nations, but if you return to me and obey my commands, then even if your exiled people are at the farthest horizon, I will gather them from there and bring them to the place I have chosen as a dwelling for my Name.' "They are your servants and your people, whom you redeemed by your great strength and your mighty hand. O Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of this your servant and to the prayer of your servants who delight in revering your name. Give your servant success today by granting him favour in the presence of this man." (For leaders) Nehemiah 4:14 After I looked things over, I stood up and said to the nobles, the officials and the rest of the people, "Don't be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes."  Nehemiah 4:18 ….and each of the builders wore his sword at his side as he worked. But the man who sounded the trumpet stayed with me. Nehemiah 4:21 - 23 So we continued the work with half the men holding spears, from the first light of dawn till the stars came out. At that time I also said to the people, "Have every man and his helper stay inside Jerusalem at night, so that they can serve us as guards by night and workmen by day." Neither I nor my brothers nor my men nor the guards with me took off our clothes; each had his weapon, even when he went for water.

Nehemiah’s vision was fuelled by prayer… we must remember all the promises in God’s Word and speak them out.

The body of Christ is like a tree, ever growing, it's surrounded by the armour of light. (Romans 13). The body is protected. A holy people, hungry for God have this light. The light can be broken by fear, and worry, this is not trusting God for everything. When this light is broken the enemy can slip in. A wolf in sheeps clothing, to distract, lie, and deceive in a subtle way using vulnerable saints to cause a 'rot' to set in, deep within the trunk of the tree. Outwardly it looks healthy but deep inside it's dying and decaying, relinquishing the resurrection power of life because of fear and worry.

The results appear in many guises, illness, troubles, gossip, lies, selfishness, pride and many more, and fear always follows in the wake of these worldly signs. God is calling us to be holy people, with the mind of Christ and the nature of Christ. We can never achieve this perfectly but in the trying we become humble, we love one another with servant hearts, and we trust the Lord for every aspect of our lives.

If we have a close relationship with Jesus, and desire to be holy, surrendering everything, serving the Lord in humility, and our brothers and sisters with a servant heart, then there will be no fear. Church as we know it is changing, but there is a healing necessary before the changes can happen. There must be repentance and prayer to inject life back into the rotten centre and begin new growth.

DISTRACTION is a tactic the enemy uses to disarm us EXODUS - Moses born into persecution, but then given the privilege and education in the Egyptian court. Moses killed an Egyptian. Having to leave, fleeing to a far land. Marriage, his first son was named stranger in the land. We are strangers in this world, in it but not of this world. When God spoke to Moses he diplayed wrong modesty. ”Who am I?"  Moses rebelled (He went thorough this before the people did, leaders are prepared). Moses argued with God. We are elected and commissioned to be instruments for the Lord. God spoke to Moses about His names, these are part of our daily blessings, declarations, proclamations, scriptures and prayers. These are part of our armoury.  There was a God incident, Moses and Aaron meet. There were no phones or ways of arranging it, yet as God led they met at the mountain. Moses 80 years old and Aaron 83 years old. Why did God harden Pharaohs heart? The Israelites were not spiritually ready to leave. God was revealing His strength. At the right and given time they left, covered by the blood and saved from the angel of death. Just as Jesus has redeemed and freed us. Exodus 4:20 So Moses took his wife and sons, put them on a donkey and started back to Egypt. And he took the staff of God in his hand. The people were weak, like us… Moses and Aaron had to be strong in the Lord.

The people were easily distracted.

Exodus 16:7 and in the morning you will see the glory of the LORD, because he has heard your grumbling against him. Who are we, that you should grumble against us?" The people grumbled against Moses and Aaron but because they were God’s anointed leaders they were really grumbling against God.Even though they knew... Exodus 23:20 "See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared." When Moses was with God for a long time they became distracted and Aaron also became distracted. Exodus 32:1 When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered round Aaron and said, "Come, make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don't know what has happened to him." 2: Aaron answered them, "Take off the gold ear-rings that your wives, your sons and your daughters are wearing, and bring them to me."  3: So all the people took off their ear-rings and brought them to Aaron.  4: He took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said, "These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt." 5: When Aaron saw this, he built an altar in front of the calf and announced, "Tomorrow there will be a festival to the LORD."  6: So the next day the people rose early and sacrificed burnt offerings and presented fellowship offerings. Afterwards they sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in revelry. 7: Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go down, because your people, whom you brought up out of Egypt, have become corrupt. 8: They have been quick to turn away from what I commanded them and have made themselves an idol cast in the shape of a calf. They have bowed down to it and sacrificed to it and have said, `These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.'

Luke 10:38  As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him.  39:She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said.  40:But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!"  41:"Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things,  42:but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her." Leave/surrender everything to JesusJud Judges 6:1-8:35… Gideon For seven years the country is oppressed by the Midianites—a particularly harsh oppression which led to many Israelites hiding in the mountains. Enter Gideon… who is also called Jerub-Baal, who initially is not sure of his calling and asks God for signs, which the Lord gives him (6:20-23, 36-40). He leads his men against the Midianites but not before God has reduced the force from 32,000 to 300. God wants to demonstrate that it is He who will deliver Israel, not Israel's own strength. He attacks in the night and such confusion is caused in the Midianite camp that they start to kill each other (7:15-25) Gideon is offered the Kingship of Israel, but refused. Then a shocking event happens, he asks the people to give him gold earrings from the plunder. He melts them down and makes an idol, which is worshipped in his home town. This from the man who had started his career tearing down the altars to the Canaanite gods. Gideon is like the book of Judges in one man…. He is blessed by God, he is hugely successful, and then he turns to foreign gods. He embodies the moral confusion and decay of the times both then and now.

BATTLE PLAN against distraction

January 2003 ….5am I woke up with three words.. IN.... WITH....... THROUGH..... IN JESUS.... So totally in Jesus- nothing of self all of Him. So totally in Jesus people around us see His reflection in all we think and say and do..... So totally in Jesus we become surrendered to the wonderful ministry of the Holy Spirit allowing Him to heal our inner man, spiritually healing deep within so we become whole... given first the spiritual, then the physical strength to be the mouth, hands, arms, and feet of Jesus - taking Him out into the cities, towns, streets and homes, into our workplace and leisure .... So totally in Jesus that He alone is our refuge and our fortress, He alone is our God in whom we trust, for as we are in Jesus so we are in our Father, our Papa, Abba Father, who loves us as His children. When we are totally in Jesus we recognise His voice, we listen to Him, He is our guide and takes the lead in everything we think say and do. When we are totally in Jesus we are in a room with Him and there are no doors to run in and out of. When we are totally in Jesus we no longer want to leave through any doors leading away from Him, when we are totally in Jesus we choose to remain with Him. When we are in Jesus we are already breathing eternity, it is already in us.

WITH JESUS....With Jesus we are able to overcome - we overcome by the Blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony, and with Jesus we do not love our lives so much that we shrink from death, to be with Jesus is to live. With Jesus the troubles we have are nothing because He tells us to "take heart.......I have overcome the world" John 16:33) With Jesus we have peace and all of the Fruits of the Spirit manifest in us. With Jesus we can "do all things" bearing the fruits, and with the Gifts of the Holy Spirit ministering to others.... in the world and also to each other in the body of Christ. With Jesus we can go boldly into the world without fear, we can speak out and have confidence in what we are saying, because if Jesus is in us and with us we are faithful in representing Him and NOT OURSELVES. THROUGH JESUS.....

Through Jesus and His work on the Cross at Calvary we are given the power and authority of His name. Philippians 2:9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Before going to the Cross the Lord Jesus prayed a prayer… John 17:6 - 26  "I have revealed you to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word. Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you. For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me. I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours.  All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them. I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name - the name you gave me - so that they may be one as we are one. While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled.  "I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified. “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. "Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world. "Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them." At Pentecost Peter declared the words of the Prophet Joel"`In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.” Through Jesus we have the Fruits and the Gifts of the Spirit and as we move with these Gifts individually and as a body of Christ the world will take notice and listen, the world will be drawn, through Jesus, as we allow Him to flow through us, He will do “greater things”.

Through Jesus, streams of Living Water will be released through us into the world, splashing the unlovely and cutting through the evil slime so prevalent around us. Each splash will bring light and life.

Through Jesus we become lights in the world, making a difference because where we go, through us, Jesus will shine. As a body in Christ the united children can be a blinding light searing through the darkness, pushing back the blackness, because wherever Jesus is and His precious Blood is applied darkness HAS to flee.

We must know who we are in Jesus, with Jesus and through Jesus – the evil one knows and he trembles!!!! Hoping we will never reach that understanding he has…. When you are a child of the Living, Almighty, and all powerful God you are a new creation no longer subject to this world – as His children we have an inheritance and it is not an inheritance that is weak and subdued it is a powerful inheritance that IN WITH and THROUGH JESUS we can use to ignite the world. It is an inheritance of power and authority and if we deny this we are diminishing God and saying He has no power and authority. Jesus told us that through Him we can change the world. He instructs us to go to the very ends of the earth. He does not send us out on our own.

We can choose to go on living our lives, running in and out of that room within our inner man where Jesus lives. We are the ones who do the D.I.Y. and sometimes put in so many doors our time with Jesus is minuscule. D.I.Y. applies also when we decide to change, to choose to spend more time seeking to be with Jesus, with Him in that room, no longer rushing away from Him – so that through Him we can make a difference in the world. In ancient days wells were planted…. These wells are all over the world, to the very ends of the earth…. Waiting to be uncapped.

Once God’s Children unite IN, WITH and THROUGH JESUS allowing the Holy Spirit total control, this  praise and worship will uncap the well at that location and streams of living water will flow up, bursting into and over the children of God as they worship, and through them it will flow as rivers into the community.

FACT…. The great source of this river is already bubbling up under the city of Jerusalem… the Temple site…. In the caverns under, they are being filled with water. This is happening now.

As God’s Children we are being given a wake up call. For too long we have been content to do our good works and witness but only like a forty watt light bulb…. Being in with and living through Jesus the wattage is immeasurable and the light blinding in it’s beauty and power – the living water transcends the light into a myriad of rainbow hues each reflecting a facet of the nature of God.  Our wake up call is here, don’t turn over and go back to sleep, embrace the rainbow, let the living water produce fruit and giftings that will nourish this dark world into light and life for Jesus.

Isiah.12:2-6 Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The LORD, the LORD, is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation."  With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. In that day you will say: "Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted. Sing to the LORD, for he has done glorious things; let this be known to all the world. Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion, for great is the Holy One of Israel among you."  6 Gideon is offered the Kingship of Israel, but refused.

He embodies the moral confusion and decay of the times both then and now!!!!

AS INDIVIDUALS COPING Glimpses of the Big picture.

MAKING PROGRESS..  The cornerstone….Jesus and the foundation is prayer, the beginning middle and end of EVERYTHING.  FAITHFULNESS...If we are faithful amazing things happen in the spirit realm, Jesus is faithful.

The journey…. Not physical it’s spiritual.

IN UNITY UNITED AS A BODY OF Spirit filled believers.
